DMXEnhancer Support
Using DMXenhancer
Once you have set up all your fixtures in DMXenhancer, you can easily trigger them by hitting the buttons, or using the hot key shortcuts. The trigger will be enabled for as long as you hold down the hot key or mouse. Once you let go, the trigger will be released.
Blinder
If your strobe comes with a blinder effect, move the sliders to the correct positions according to your blinder's configuration (you will need to see the manual for your blinder to know what this is). Hitting the Blinder button will trigger this slider combo.
Slow Strobe
Adjust the sliders for the speed and intensity for a slow strobe. Hitting the Slow Strobe will trigger this slider combo.
Med Strobe
Adjust the sliders for the speed and intensity for a medium strobe. Hitting the Med Strobe will trigger this slider combo.
Fast Strobe
Adjust the sliders for the speed and intensity for a fast strobe. Hitting the Fast Strobe will trigger this slider combo.
Fade In/Out
Adjust the fade in and fade out slider (these values are in seconds, 0 sec - 5 sec). Hitting the Fade Out button will fade out all assigned lights. Hitting it again will fade the lights back in.
Blackout
By triggering this, you will be using either the full fade out, or the static values (depending on your setup in settings). Hitting the Blackout button will blackout all assigned lights until you let go. You can tap this button multiple times to give a nice strobing effect.
Stutter Blackout Speed
Adjust the slider to change the speed to auto stutter the Blackout trigger. You will need to enable this by hitting the on/off switch button to the right of the slider for it to work.
Hot Keys
You can turn this on/off by hitting the switch
Window always on top
Prevent DMXenhancer from hiding behind other windows that are in focus. Goto settings, and then click window. Select window always on top.
Getting started
Always launch DMXenhancer before launching myDMX. myDMX will not recognize MIDI or helper apps unless they are plugged in and launched before launching myDMX.Set up Strobe (for 2-channel Blinder and Strobe effects)
Launch DMXenhancer, then launch myDMX. Go to the live tab in myDMX. Select LTP mode on all of the sliders that you want to MIDI sync with DMXenhancer. This setting is located at the bottom of every slider. We are going to use 2-channel strobe fixtures, speed and intensity. Next, right click the same LTP button and select 'Learn MIDI command' on the slider that controls your strobe speed. In DMXenhancer, slide the Speed slider for the strobe allowing it to learn the MIDI. Next, do the same thing with the slider that controls your strobe's Intensity. After these two sliders are set, all of your strobe and blinder effects will work. You do not have to set up each individual slider since they are all reading the same device.
Set up Blackout
There are two ways to set up Blackout. Before setting up Blackout, it is important to know what type of light fixtures you have. Some fixtures, such as Scanners & Moving Heads have bulbs that discharge light slowly when you turn them off. In others, such as LED fixtures, the light stops immediately. It is better and easier to set up lights that instantly fade to black. If you have lights that do not fade to black instantly, you can use the default solid black gobo as a shutter to instantly turn off the light with the Blackout feature. We recommend you try the fade control, and if that does not work, you can set up your Blackout control using static values.
Using fade control (the preferred option)
To get the correct blackout effect, you will need to assign all the lights in your light rig, except for your Strobes/Blinders. For each light, go to the live tab in myDMX. Select LTP mode on the Intensity slider that you want to MIDI sync with DMXenhancer. This setting is located at the bottom of every slider. Once this is selected, right click the same LTP button and select 'Learn MIDI command.' In DMXenhancer, slide the Fade In slider above the Fade Out button, allowing it to learn the MIDI. Repeat this process for every light in your system except for the strobes. When you are finished, Blackout should be set up. If it does not work, you can try using static values (the next section).
Using static values for Blackout
This setup method requires knowing the black gobo value is in your light fixture and the wide open lens value. This info can be found in the manual for your fixture, and in most cases it can be found online. In DMXenhancer, click on the settings tab in the upper left corner. Then click on Blackout. Navigate to 'Use static values'. Press the plus button (+) to add a light fixture. You can name the fixture. It is best to use the fixture's manufacturer and model number. Next enter the value for 'Press' and for 'Release.' Press is the black gobo value and in most cases that value is '0.' Release is the the wide open lens value, and that can be different on different light fixtures. Next, go to the live tab in myDMX. Select LTP mode on the Gobo slider that you want to MIDI sync with DMXenhancer. This setting is located at the bottom of every slider. Once this is selected, right-click the same LTP button and select 'Learn MIDI command.' In DMXenhancer, click the Assign button next to the Release. Lastly, repeat these steps for all the lights in your rig except for the strobes.
If you have multiply fixtures that are the same brand and model but on different channels, you do not have to add new values for each light. You only have to learn the MIDI and click assign for all duplicate lights. Only add a new entry (click the plus +) if the values are different on the light fixture.
Setting up shortcut keys
In DMXenhancer, click on the settings tab in the upper left corner. Then click on Hot Keys. Click in the box for each operation and type the key that you want to select as a short cut. You can also select 'spacebar'. By default, spacebar is the shortcut for Blackout. All shortcuts work globally, meaning that the keys will trigger regardless of whether DMXenhancer is in focus.
